Progress Note

Beginners start at 30 kyu, the entry level in Go. With consistent attendance and completion of practice exercises, students typically reach 15–20 kyu after 16 lessons. At this level, they will be able to play full games independently and understand basic Go strategies.

Beginner Level

Children ages 5 and up with no prior experience in Go.

In the Beginner Go Class, students will learn the fundamental rules and core concepts of Go, including how to place stones correctly and capture territory. They will also begin to explore basic techniques and tactics, while building focus, patience, and good sportsmanship through regular gameplay.
