Who is FDT?
We are excited to announce our collaboration with the renowned Fostering Debate Talent (FDT) Academy to offer Public Speaking and Debate courses!
FDT has been founded in 2016 and based in Vancouver, FDT Academy is a leading institution dedicated to empowering young individuals to express their beliefs confidently and discover their passion for public speaking. With a mission to foster dialogue and critical thinking, FDT’s team of elite, experienced instructors has helped students across Canada excel in debate and public speaking.
Over the years, FDT has produced more than 45 members of the Canadian National Debate/Speech Team and supported countless students in gaining admission to prestigious Ivy League universities such as Harvard and Yale.
Debate
Debate is the heart of FDT Academy, and we are leaders in teaching World’s Style, CNDF, Cross Examination, and British Parliamentary Debate. Going beyond just teaching students how to form arguments, FDT’s Debate program encourages students to learn how to use rhetoric and evidence, forming a skillset that allows them to succeed in their future academic and professional careers. Students are able to take the skills they learn in the classroom to tournaments offered provincially, nationally, and even internationally incountries such as the United States, Great Britain, and Thailand.
Public Speaking
At FDT we offer two tracks of Public Speaking – Competitive & Introductory. Our competitive track is a 1 to 1 program which prepares students for public speaking competitions. Our introductory track teaches students how to write,edit, and deliver speeches for a variety of purposes and helps to build their confidence. Our students and instructors have competed in, and won, many speech competitions, while several have gone on to represent Canada at the World’s Individual Public Speaking and Debate Championships.
